Spatial Justice in Future European Regional Development

A workshop at OPEN DAYS this year analyses the unevenness in the speed and scale of development. Policy makers have sought to address these uneven outcomes through various policies and measures to stimulate convergence in regional performance, with varied levels and consistency of success.

This workshop picks up these more general trends and seeks to explore:

  • the application of regional development theories and practices based on endogenous growth
  • the immediate but also structurally significant conditions of an 'austerity' Europe
  • and the advocacy of integrated approaches to regions that recognise the environmental imperative.
